The LEF's 2019 Spring Gala, Innovation Celebration: Sports Edition, was our most successful fundraiser yet, raising over $110,000 for physical education, academic and enrichment programs in the Ladue School District.
Drawing on the momentum of multiple state championship wins celebrated by Ladue Schools teams, as well as a generous community that believes in the importance of physical education, the LEF had the highest attendance of any of its events. 260 people gathered in the JCC Sports Arena to celebrate and support our students, coaches and teachers. Keynote speaker Ben Newman ('97) motivated the crowd with the inspirational story of his journey to becoming a performance coach to Fortune 500 companies, professional athletes—and the LHWHS Boys' Basketball team!
Senior cross country athlete Peter Jakiela spoke about how the LEF helps shape students into leaders and sophomore Morgan Taylor delivered a show-stopping National Anthem. Performances by the Ladue Pep Band and the Laduettes were capped off with an entertaining mascot race, won by the Spoede Turtle.
As medical research continues to demonstrate the importance of physical activity on both healthy growth and academic performance, the LEF is proud to shine a light on the excellent programs in the district. We are truly grateful for the dedication of all the volunteers who brought this fantastic event together, as well as the generosity of all who attended, sponsored and donated.
Save the date for next year's Innovation Celebration on April 3, 2019, when we will focus on the terrific array of clubs and activities that enrich our students' experiences in Ladue Schools.
